Remember Me Sessions
Making senior pet photography my priority
Today, I want to speak about something very close to my heart. My Remember Me Photo Sessions and why to me senior pet photography is one of the most important services I offer.
As both an animal owner and dog and equine photographer, I know all about the special bond and connections we share with our pets, we are blessed with their love, joy, and loyalty. To me, it’s a privilege to not only witness this special bond between a pet and their owner but to capture these moments for my clients, for them to cherish them forever.
This is one of my favourite of my horse Sam and me. I have this hanging in a large frame in my office.
Just the other a client got in touch asking if I had availability for a photo session for her horse in the next few days, as her horse was diagnosed with an aggressive tumor. I responded immediately with a few options (I’ll always make time for photo sessions with animals that don’t have long to live).
I didn’t hear back from her, so I followed up with a call the next day. Even though I knew the horse was unwell, I wasn’t prepared to hear that she had been put to sleep in the morning. She had unfortunately taken a bad turn overnight. I’m heartbroken for the client and so sad that we weren’t able to get the photo session arranged in time.
With the joys of owning pets, also comes the difficult time of having to say goodbye. A moment filled with incredible sadness, reflection, and the realisation that our time together is limited. Through the tears, we can hopefully still find joy in remembering the happy times we’ve spent together, the adventures, their little quirks, and big personalities.
Saying goodbye is never easy, I lost my black Labrador Candy when she was only 9 years old, and I still miss her terribly. It is a time when we are reminded not to take things for granted and to live and enjoy every moment.
My Remember Me Sessions for senior dogs and horses are often very emotional but also very rewarding sessions. They are a celebration of our beloved animals and ensure that you have beautiful and meaningful images to remember your special furry companion by. Every session is tailored to your animal’s needs and approached with sensitivity and compassion. To me these sessions are not just photo shoots; they are opportunities to celebrate our dogs’ and horses’ lives and create lasting tributes to the unconditional love and companionship that they offer us.
Senior pet photography always takes priority in my calendar, I’m committed to accommodating you and your dog or horse, even at short notice, and I will do my best to clear my calendar.
To me, there is more to senior dog and equine photo sessions than just showing up at a location with a camera and snapping away. From planning to printing I take care of everything! The planning is the most important, we’ll arrange a call so that I can get to know you and find out more about your dog or horse. I love hearing all the stories from your journey together, the special bond you share, and any special places you go together.
One of the most powerful aspects of Remember Me Sessions is their ability to capture the spirit of our senior pets – their unique personalities, quirks, and the special moments that have defined our time together. Whether it’s a playful walk around the park, a quiet moment of reflection, or a loving gaze shared between you and your animal, these images serve as lasting tributes to the joy and companionship our pets bring into our lives.
To all of you dog and horse owners out there, enjoy every moment of your animal’s life – the laughter, the joy, even the tears, and everything in between. And if the time comes to say goodbye, remember that love knows no bounds, and the memories we’ve shared will live on forever in our hearts.
Why do I share this message today? It’s a gentle reminder to cherish every single day we have with our furry friends. Give them an extra cuddle and hold them tight. If you or someone you know could benefit from a Remember Me Session, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your pet’s legacy deserves to be celebrated and cherished.
Lots of love,
Iska xx
